Instead of burdening students with an excess of literary concepts, readers are guided through a series of questions to thoroughly understand the stories they are reading. This approach to literature education is becoming increasingly recognized for its value, as it leads students to a self-discovery of the text by encouraging critical and comprehensive reading, rather than simply memorizing details. The series of questions is intended to be discussed orally.

Jangroentjie is 'n verhaalbundel wat veral bedoel is vir gebruik deur Afrikaanssprekende leerlinge tot ongeveer standerd agt. Dit wil hulle voorberei op die soort eis wat gestel sal word tydens die laaste twee jaar van die Senior Sekond*re kursus. Die werk wil hierdie voorbereiding op so 'n natuurlike en gesonde wyse moontlik probeer aanhelp, en gevolglik is liter*re terminologie in die besprekings tot 'n minimum beperk.
